序言

ECMAScript 语言规范（ECMA262），下面简称语言规范，或规范。

让我们通过一个实例走进并理解规范。
下面的代码说明了如何使用 Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty：

const o = { foo: 1 };
o.hasOwnProperty("foo"); // true
o.hasOwnProperty("bar"); // false

在上面的示例中，对象 o 并没有 hasOwnProperty 属性，因此要在原型链上找到它。
对象 o 的原型是 Object.prototype。

为了描述 Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty 是如何工作的，规范使用如下伪代码来描述：

Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty(V)

给定参数 V，调用 hasOwnProperty 方法，将执行如下步骤：

令 P 为 ? ToPropertyKey(V)

令 O 为 ? ToObject(this value)

返回 ? HasOwnProperty(O, P)

…此外…

HasOwnProperty(O, P)

抽象操作 HasOwnProperty 用于确定一个对象上是否存在指定属性键，返回一个布尔值。该操作接受参数 O 和 P，且 O 是对象，P 是属性键。此抽象操作执行如下步骤：

断言：Type(O) 为 Object 断言：IsPropertyKey(P) 为 true 令 desc 为 ? O.[[GetOwnProperty]](P) 若 desc 为 undefined，返回 false 返回 true

但，什么是 “抽象操作”（abstract operations）？[[ ]] 符号里面的东西又是什么？为什么函数前有一个 ? 符号？断言（assert）又起什么作用？

让我们一起看看！

语言类型与规范类型

注：此处类型都指数据类型（data type）

规范中使用的值，例如 undefined、true 和 false 都是我们已了解的 Javascript 值。
它们也都是语言值（language values），即规范定义的语言类型（language types）的值。

同时，规范内部也会使用语言值。例如，一个内部数据类型可能包含某个可以为 true 或 false 的字段。
与之相反，JavaScript 引擎（即规范实现者）往往不在内部使用语言值。
例如，如果引擎使用 C++ 编写，则它往往使用 C++ 的 true 和 false（而不是引擎内部表示出来的 JavaScript 的 true 和 false）

除了语言类型，规范同时使用规范类型（specification types）。规范类型是仅在规范中使用的，但不存在与 JavaScript 语言的类型。JavaScript 引擎不需要（但也可以）实现它们。
在本篇博客中，我们会了解规范类型之一 —— Record（以及其子类型 Completion Record）。

抽象操作

抽象操作是语言规范中定义的函数。定义它们使得规范更简洁。Javascript 引擎并非必须在引擎中实现它们，它们也不能直接通过 Javascript 调用。

内部槽与内部方法

内部槽与内部方法的名称会通过 [[ ]] 符号围住。

内部槽（internal slots）是 JavaScript 对象的数据成员，或者是一个规范类型。它们用于存储一个对象的状态。
内部方法（internal methods）是 JavaScript 对象的成员函数。

例如，每个 JavaScript 对象都有内部槽 [[Prototype]] 和内部方法 [[GetOwnProperty]]。

内部槽和内部方法无法通过 JavaScript 访问。例如，你无法访问 o.[[Prototype]] 或调用 o.[[GetOwnProperty]]。JavaScript 引擎可以（但不是必须）实现它们以备内部使用。

有时一些内部方法会直接委托同名抽象操作，例如普通对象的 [[GetOwnProperty]]：

[[GetOwnProperty]](P)

当给定属性键 P，调用 O 的内部方法 [[GetOwnProperty]]，将执行如下操作：

返回 ! OrdinaryGetOwnProperty(O, P)

（此处感叹号标记下节再谈）

OrdinaryGetOwnProperty 不是内部方法，因为它不是对象关联的方法；反之，它要操作的对象作为参数传入。

OrdinaryGetOwnProperty 被称为 “普通”（ordinary）因为它操作的是普通对象。ECMAScript 对象可以是普通的（ordinary）或异类的（exotic）。普通对象必须拥有含一系列默认行为方法的必要内部方法。一个对象如果违背这些默认行为，则它是异类的。

我们最熟知的异类对象就是 Array，因为它的 length 属性违反默认行为：设置 length 属性可以从 Array 中移除元素。

必要内部方法列于此处。

Completion records

那么上面提到的问号和感叹号是什么含义呢？为了理解它们，我们来看看 Completion Records。

Completion Record 是规范类型（仅在规范中定义）。JavaScript 引擎并非必须实现对应数据类型。

Completion Record 是 “record” ——— 一种具有固定命名字段的数据类型。 Completion Record 则有三个字段：

名称	描述
`[[Type]]`	取 `normal`, `break`, `continue`, `return`, 或 `throw` 之一。除 `normal` 外，其余皆为 abrupt completions.
`[[Value]]`	The value that was produced when the completion occurred, for example, the return value of a function or the exception (if one is thrown).
`[[Target]]`	Used for directed control transfers (not relevant for this blog post).

每个抽象操作隐式返回 Completion Record。即使其看起来似乎只是返回一个简单类型如 Boolean，实际上是隐式包装为一个 [[Type]] 为 normal 的 Completion Record。（见 Implicit Completion Values）

注意 1： 规范在此方面并不完全一致；某些辅助函数返回裸值，并且其返回值按原样使用，在提取 Completion Record 中的值时也不例外。这通常在上下文中显而易见。

注意 2： 规范作者正研究如何使 Completion Record 的处理更显式。

如果算法抛出异常，则表示返回 [[Type]] 为 throw 的 Completion Record，其 [[Value]] 为异常对象。我们暂且忽略 break、continue 和 return 类型。

ReturnIfAbrupt(argument) 意味着执行以下步骤：

若 argument 是 abrupt，则返回 argument

将 argument 设置为 argument.[[Value]]

也就是说，我们检查一个 Completion Record；如果这是 abrupt completion，则我们立即返回。否则，我们从 Completion Record 中提取出值。

ReturnIfAbrupt 看似为函数调用，但实际上并非如此。它将导致出现了 ReturnIfAbrupt() 的函数返回，而不是 ReturnIfAbrupt 函数本身。其行为更像 C 语言中的宏。

可按如下方式使用 ReturnIfAbrupt：

令 obj 为 Foo()。（obj 是一个 Completion Record。）

ReturnIfAbrupt(obj)

Bar(obj)。（如果我们仍在此处，则说明 obj 是从 Completion Record 中提取的值。）

现在，问号发挥了作用：? Foo() 等效于 ReturnIfAbrupt(Foo())。使用简写非常实用：我们无需每次都显式编写错误处理代码。

同样，Let val be ! Foo() 等效于：

令 val 为 Foo()。

断言：val 不是 abrupt completion。

将 val 设置为 val.[[Value]]。

利用此知识，我们可以按如下方式重写 Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty：

Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty(V)

令 P 为 ToPropertyKey(V)。

若 P 是 abrupt completion，则返回 P

将 P 设置为 P.[[Value]]

令 O 为 ToObject(this value)。

若 O 是 abrupt completion，则返回 O

将 O 设置为 O.[[Value]]

令 temp 为 HasOwnProperty(O, P)。

若 temp 是 abrupt completion，则返回 temp

令 temp 为 temp.[[Value]]

返回 NormalCompletion(temp)

…我们也可按如下方式重写 HasOwnProperty：

HasOwnProperty(O, P)

断言：Type(O) 是 Object。

断言：IsPropertyKey(P) 为 true。

令 desc 为 O.[[GetOwnProperty]](P)。

如果 desc 是 abrupt completion，则返回 desc

将 desc 设置为 desc.[[Value]]

若 desc 是 undefined，则返回 NormalCompletion(false)。

返回 NormalCompletion(true)。

我们还可以不带感叹号，重写 [[GetOwnProperty]] 内部方法：

O.[[GetOwnProperty]]

令 temp 为 OrdinaryGetOwnProperty(O, P)。

断言：temp 不是 abrupt completion。

令 temp 为 temp.[[Value]]。

返回 NormalCompletion(temp)。

此处，我们假定 temp 是一个全新的临时变量，不会与任何其它变量冲突。

我们还利用这样一个知识：当 return 语句返回除 Completion Record 以外的其他内容时，它会隐式包装在 NormalCompletion 中。

离题：`Return ? Foo()`

规范使用此表示法：Return ? Foo() —— 此处问号是什么？

Return ? Foo() 展开为：

令 temp 为 Foo()。

如果 temp 是 abrupt completion，则返回 temp。

将 temp 设置为 temp.[[Value]]。

返回 NormalCompletion(temp)。

这与 Return Foo() 相同；对于 abrupt 和 normal completions，其表现相同。

Return ? Foo() 仅出于规范编辑目的，以更明确地说明 Foo 返回一个 Completion Record。

断言（Asserts）

规范中的断言用于断言算法中的不变量。添加它们只是用于澄清，实现者并不需要添加 —— 即实现者无需检查断言。

译注：这里的断言有点像标注类型。

Moving on

抽象操作委托给其它抽象操作（见下图），但是根据这篇博文，我们应该能够弄清楚他们做了什么。
我们将遇到 Property Descriptors，它仅仅是另一个规范类型。
